Día de los Muertos

The stories behind the paintings…

Día de los Muertos: Drawing Performance @ SOMArts

I created these drawings as a live drawing performance for a Día de los Muertos cultural and arts celebration at SOMArts in San Francisco. I worked with one of my favorite models, Prudence. She brought a few props and we spent a wonderful evening creating art for all those that cared to stop and watch. What fun this was!

The dancing line

I am forever in love with the movement of line. The way it carves, shimmers, delineates, connects…it is both what divides and connects. The drawn line needs not fill in all blanks, but instead suggests just enough to trigger the viewer’s imagination, breathing infinite life, energy and movement into the drawing.
